Grammy- Award winning mezzo, Lucy Schaufer is an artist who strives to embody the highest calibre of work on the stage and concert platform, and actively advocates for new works and her colleagues in order that “we all can have a vibrant cultural landscape now and in the future.” With well over 75 world premieres under her belt, she dedicates her career to performing and collaborating with composers, leading Gramophone Magazine to say "she occupies an undefinable space in the 'who's who' of classical music." Building upon the leadership development during lockdown as part of the Beth Morrison Producers Academy, Lucy created the first Artist Producer role with Opera Holland Park presenting and performing in the UK premiere of Mark Adamo’s Little Women, with the goal of expanding the freelance artist’s voice within our sector. Wild Plum Arts’s “think-space” residencies MadeAtTheRedHouse in collaboration with Sarah Bardwell at Britten-Pears Arts, supported over 50 composers during the period of 2019-2021. Lucy held an honorary professorship at University of St Andrews, Laidlaw Music Centre, a new Fellowship specifically created for her due to the success of her initial lecturing, recital work, and masterclasses - with the expansive remit of opera, musical theatre, and new music. Lucy regularly teaches symposiums at conservatories around the world, and she continues to be a member of the Artistic Strategy Committee for NMC Recordings as well as the Artistic Director of Wild Plum Arts.
